Frequently asked questions
LEVELAD is a professional ambient noise measurement and continuous monitoring system. It measures sound levels in dBA and dBC in real time, performs 1/3 octave spectral analysis (40 Hz – 16 kHz) and generates automatic PDF reports. It operates 24/7 autonomously, without a PC or internet connection.
No. LEVELAD operates completely autonomously without an internet connection. All measurements are stored locally. A network connection is only needed for remote web access or synchronisation with the central server, both optional features.
It uses the miniDSP UMIK-1 USB microphone, which comes with individual factory calibration via a unit-specific correction file. This ensures traceability and accuracy of all measurements.
Yes. The central server automatically calculates Ld, Le, Ln and Lden indices in accordance with Spanish Royal Decree 1367/2007 and European Directive 2002/49/EC. It allows configurable limits by acoustic zone type and continuously evaluates compliance.
There is no limit. With the central server you can monitor dozens of LEVELAD devices simultaneously, compare data between devices, analyse source-receiver correlations and receive automatic alerts from all of them.
Yes. Each device has a web interface accessible from any browser on the local network. For secure remote access from any location, VPN (Tailscale) is used. It also has a REST API for integration with external systems.
The challenge
Concerts, festivals and outdoor events create a critical challenge: ensuring regulatory compliance without limiting the audience experience.
| Problem | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Neighbourhood noise complaints | Fines from €300 to €300,000 |
| Spot measurements by deployed technician | High cost, limited coverage, no continuity |
| Unknown actual level at receivers | Inability to adjust PA in real time |
| Dispute over noise source | No objective evidence for authorities |
| Inability to prove compliance | Legal liability for the organiser |
The solution
LEVELAD deploys a network of devices that simultaneously monitors the sound source and multiple receivers, correlating both measurements in real time.

| Feature | Traditional measurement | LEVELAD |
|---|---|---|
| Temporal coverage | Spot samples (minutes) | Continuous 24/7 throughout the event |
| Measurement points | 1-2 manual points | Network of simultaneous receivers |
| Source discrimination | Technician's opinion | Automatic objective determination |
| Real time | Results hours/days later | Live control panel |
| Alerts | Nobody warns until the complaint | Automatic email, Telegram and SMS |
| Documentation | Manual report afterwards | Continuous recording with traceability |

Centralised monitoring
Unified view of all deployed devices. dBA/dBC levels, Peak Maximum, LEQ per receiver. Health status for each device with traffic-light indicators.
Correlation engine
Automatic determination of what proportion of measured noise comes from the event. Weighted verdict with multiple analysis techniques and ISO 1996-2 verification.
Regulatory assessment
Ld, Le, Ln and Lden indices calculated automatically. Data coverage bars per period. Evaluation against Royal Decree 1367/2007 limits by acoustic area type.
Workflow
LEVELAD devices are installed at the source (stage) and receiver points (facades, residential areas). Each device self-registers on the server.
Devices measure and send data to the central server. The panel shows in real time the level at each receiver and whether it comes from the event or the ambient.
If a receiver exceeds the limit, an automatic alert is sent to the sound engineer, who reduces PA volume. The panel confirms correction within seconds.
At the end of the event, a complete report is automatically generated with full measurement traceability, regulatory compliance and correlation analysis.
Use cases
Multiple stages, several days. Simultaneous control of all emission points and perimeter receivers with full traceability.
Direct feedback to the PA engineer. The DECISION panel indicates at all times whether receiver levels comply with limits.
Multi-day events with variable schedules. Configured time slots automatically apply night-time penalties.
Objective data for issuing licences, managing complaints and resolving proceedings with traceable documentation.
Industrial, airport or infrastructure. Continuous 24/7 supervision with alerts and automatic regulatory reports.
Measurement campaigns with multiple points and source-receiver correlation analysis. Technical reports compliant with regulations.
Competitive advantages

Complete documentation to prove compliance against any complaint or inspection.
Objective, traceable data for licence granting and resolving enforcement proceedings.
Assurance that an effective control system exists and the event respects legal limits.
Records with evidential value: continuous, calibrated data with full temporal traceability.
Professional tool with source-receiver correlation, background subtraction and ISO 1996-2 verification.
